Reports to:  VP of Technical Services and Director of Technical Services

 

SUMMARY

It is the responsibility of the Mechanical Installer to facilitate the effective installation of FTSI machinery and flying systems. The Mechanical Installer   will establish and maintain the safe and consistent operation of all FTSI automated equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead crews in the installation of mechanical automated systems and related equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment; update maintenance and inspection records as directed.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times by conforming to all established FTSI and OSHA safety policies and procedures and participating in all required safety classes.
  • Prepare for the testing and set-up of mechanical equipment for each new installation of FTSI equipment.
  • Provide onsite rehearsal and show support per contracted jobs as assigned.
  • Prepare daily site report of FTSI installation and daily work report documents.
  • Prepare and maintain written SAT testing documents for each installation.
  • Assist in the fabrication, assembly, termination and testing of equipment or systems as assigned.
  • Produce written procedures for the service, testing, troubleshooting and repair of each type of FTSI component and assemblies.
  • Assist, as project schedules require, in the creation of maintenance/ operation manuals.
  • Maintain all database logs and entries for all standard service procedural needs.
  • Train clients on the installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of FTSI mechanical systems.
  • Availability to respond to client emergency requests for service.
  • Investigate and access new technologies for applications in FTSI projects and products.
  • Develop and inform technical approaches and designs used for specific FTSI new projects.
  • Advise the VP of Technical Services and the Director of Technical Services of any anticipated costs for equipment or components for assigned projects.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the VP of Technical Services and / or the Director of Technical Services.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must have a minimum of (5) years experience as an automation professional for large-scale productions.
  • Must have an understanding of established electrical and electronic principles and safety procedures.
  • Must have an understanding of established theatrical rigging and performer flying principles and safety procedures, including formal Fall Protection training.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work unsupervised, able to multi-task and to prioritize work.
  • Ability to adapt personal work schedule as required to meet project deadlines and assigned duties.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive and effective relationship with other departments and clients.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and technical staff.
  • Ability to be a creative thinker; willingness to try new approaches to job.
  • Must have a valid U.S driver’s license and passport to be able to travel as required.
  • Must have or be willing to seek certification in ETCP Arena and Theatre Rigging certifications.
  • Ability and willingness to continue education outside of normal office hours towards company product knowledge and use, and industry trends and technology.
