Job Title: Project Manager

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer

SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of the Project Manager to supervise, manage and organize projects as they pertain to the development and continuity of projects at FTSI. The Project Manager is responsible for guiding the project team through all phases required for project completion.


  • Report to the COO the daily and weekly status of PM department projects.
  • Manage specific client and internal projects as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, task lists, meeting agendas, meeting notes and other pertinent documentation.
  • Create and manage budgets related to project specific elements and deliver projects on budget.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of written internal project policies, procedures and project templates.
  • Exhibit strong technical writing skills for preparation of report documents and technical manuals contributions.
  • Verification of client specifications in order to lead the design of mechanical systems that meet or exceed client specifications.
  • Manage FTSI manufacturing and purchasing databases throughout the design/ build/ installation process.
  • Communicate with the designers, sales department and shop supervisors regarding current and future projects.
  • Keep open lines of communication with designers and fabricators with consideration to integration and work flow.
  • Create project quotes and estimates for new work and change orders for existing projects.
  • Organize and facilitate as assigned production & design meetings as they pertain to all projects.
  • Manage the development and distribution of project specific documentation internally and to the client.
  • Assure project compliance with client contractual obligations.
  • Speak with clients and maintain a positive and open relationship.
  • In coordination with the Service Department, follow-up with clients to validate ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Execute per FTSI guidelines all billing, change orders and labor tracking as it pertains to projects.
  • Witness physical testing criteria of equipment and coordinate expected and actual results analyses with fabrication and testing personnel.
  • Supervise and assist in the creation of O & M manuals and final client submittal packages.
  • Manage 3rd party and outsourced engineering and design services.
  • Comply with all FTSI project management requirements for status reporting, financial reporting, quality assurance and documentation procedures.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the COO.

  • Five years experience as a project manager for theatrical or construction design build projects.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Project).
  • Experience using AutoCAD 2000 or higher.
  • Ability to mediate and guide the decision making process, be self-motivated and be able to work unsupervised.
  • Must be able to multi-task, organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to adapt personal work schedule as required to meet project deadlines and assigned duties.
  • Knowledge of theatrical rigging and automation a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team with engineering and technical staff.
  • The ability to create and maintain a positive relationship with departments and clients.
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and creating Acrobat files (.PDF) a plus.
  • Ability to be a creative thinker and to work well under pressure; willingness to try new approaches to the job and craft a plan for project completion.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and be able to travel to locations for supervision of project installations.
  • Ability to continue education outside of normal office hours towards project management certification, company product knowledge and use, and industry trends and technology.
